VA Recount Almost Certain

By Frank, November 7, 2006

One commentator said that Virginia law allows a candidate to demand a recount when the vote comes within one percentage point … and right now, it looks like Allen is within 1,798 votes out of 2.3 million cast, with 99.26% of the precincts reporting. That could swing to a plurality for Allen with just 900 votes, but either way, a recount looks certain.

At this hour, 9:49pm PT, Republicans do look like they will be losing 22 seats (give or take a couple) in the House. That will give the Dems about a 7 seat majority in the House, but it looks like the Senate may be evenly split or a one or two seat majority for the Republicans.
