Mast Box Assembly

My dimensional error shows up here:  the cabin cut out in the side panels extends past the forward bulkhead about 1/4".  While I can use a router to cut away enough of the forward bulkhead to make the cabin front fit, if I put the mast box butted up against the other side of this bulkhead as the plans call for, the mast would literally touch the cabin.  I decided to move the mast forward 2", which puts it in the original position.
At the left you can see my solution.  I used pieces of redwood from a full 2" thick 2 x 4 to act as furring strips and move the mast box forward.  1" stainless scres attach the blocks to the mast box (driven from inside) and 2 1/2" stainless screws attach the blocks to the bulkhead (driven in from the bulkhead.)  The standard mast block is on the bottom (made from 1/2" ply) but the top uses an arrangement different from in the plans.
I used the same full 2" redwood stock for the top blocks.  Trimmed to fit around the mast box and under the bow - to - side panel joiner, this makes a strong assembly.  Later, I had to move this assembly 1/2" to starboard, as I had the mast box off center.
