The trailer I bought used was not set up for a center keel, flat bottom boat, although it did have the nice roller bunks for the twin hull boat that was on it.  I plan to use those for supporting the flat bottom of Aslan, but most of the weight will bear on the keel right down the center of the trailer.  Here, a 10' 2 x 6 is bolted to the trailer's cross-members.
I took a 11" long piece of 2 x 6 and cut it diagonally, and fitted it to the sides of the 2 x 6 bolted to the trailer to provide a wider approach.  Douglas Fir 2 x 4s will be screwed to the side of the 2 x 6's to provide vertical sides to keep the keel on track.
I tacked some indoor/outdoor carpet to the 2 x 6's and then screwed the 2 x 4s on the sides.  I used heavy duty galvanized deck screws, every 6", along the sides (alternating just a bit high and low to prevent splitting the 2 x 4s.)   I think this should work OK.
Jan and I took some time out this New Year's Eve to eat lunch watching the sailboats at Ventura Harbor ... one of two harbors within a few miles of us.  Sitting there, we got to thinking this is why we love California so much.  72 degrees, and a day you could sail while the rest of the country is digging out from a snowstorm.  Of course, I could sail if I had the boat finished!
